and there is a time to dance

|

It was one of those days. Cooper woke up crying in the middle of the night, woke up an hour early this morning, and hardly napped at all this afternoon. That left lots of awake time for him to whine and cling to me. I could tell he must be sick or hurting in some way, but that doesn’t mean that he didn’t drive me bananas. Apparently I need to work on my compassion a little more. I felt a little vindicated when Uncle/Dr. Luke looked in Cooper’s ears tonight and spied some redness. At least I know neither one of us was going crazy!

All that to say… sometimes you just need to be reminded of why you love someone. In regards to my little boy, this video does that for me. It was a few weeks ago, Aunt Marion had stopped by to say hello, and Cooper decided it was time to dance. Literally, he will walk over to the stereo, point to it, and say, “Pea, pea!” (translation: “Please, please!) What happens next, well… just watch and see. Keep in mind, though, that this doesn’t hold a candle to the live version.

p.s. Cooper gets his dance moves from his dad. Especially the stomping. I would never.

my, how things change…

Late summer, 2008 (age: 9 months)

Cooper sat contentedly for 30 minutes watching Curtis mow the lawn. I couldn’t believe it! That was certainly a record at that point. Come to think of it, it may still be the record.

Look at that baby face!

Late summer, 2009 (age: 20 months)

This past weekend, he was once again watching his daddy mow the lawn.

Only this time, the watching lasted about 30 seconds.

Then it was time to mow.

On my last post, I said “I’m kinda crazy… about this picture.” After looking at the picture, I’m sure you thought, “Really? Why?” Well, it was because of the the right half of the picture, which apparently was cut off when I posted a "large” picture. I just noticed. Ha ha ha! Here’s the full picture:

too good to keep to myself

It’s ridiculous that I am still blogging about our beach trip from over a month ago. I am really going to try to share more current “snapshots” of life. First, though, I just had to share these:

A family pic… in shades. We’re so hip.

My two boys sure are crazy about each other.

I’m kinda crazy about them too. And about this picture.

Then there are these two: Bess (4) and Rosey (2), my sister Ashley’s girls. I mean seriously… a camera can’t capture the cuteness.

It’s too bad that it’s all about looks with them. They really have no personality at all.  Poor kids.

One thing is for sure- they truly love their mom.  I can see why. Every time I am with her, I am increasingly impressed with my sister as a mom.

Her creativity and energy in parenting are both a challenge and an encouragement to me. She constantly reads books and does crafts and fixes balanced meals and creates games. I am worn out just watching her. She sure loves those girls.

You know who else loves “Wo Wo” and “Beh”? Their cousin.
